Implementation costs

A capped effort model that keeps Opal in control of scope, pace, and priorities

The commercial model

Maica's commercial approach to implementation is based on a capped time and materials model. Opal controls the activities, scope, and pace at which the implementation is executed, and Maica will not exceed any listed costs (including stated tolerances) unless agreed to by Opal Healthcare. All work is performed at a daily professional rate of $1,700.00 per day (ex GST).

Effort is expressed in person days at the upper limit, inclusive of contingency, with additional risk weighting applied to technical build, data migration, testing, and deployment activities. Estimates will tighten as discovery confirms key architectural decisions, including the banking automation architecture and the HRIS platform for user provisioning.

Effort and indicative investment by phase

PhaseCapped effort (days)Indicative investment (ex GST)
Project initiation46.5$79,050
Commercial value analysis19.5$33,150
Project planning178.5$303,450
Project execution391.5$665,550
Project governance & control (ongoing)78.5$133,450
Deployment & go-live82.5$140,250
BAU transition30$51,000

Governance and control effort is expended across the full program duration rather than as a sequential phase. The capped figures represent the upper limit; as a capped time and materials engagement, Opal is invoiced for effort actually expended, and the full activity-level breakdown behind each phase is available in the interactive implementation plan.

Optional extended dedicated hypercare

Beyond the standard hypercare period included in the core implementation, Maica offers an optional Extended Dedicated Hypercare service covering the first four months of live operation, supporting Opal's first four month-end claiming and billing cycles end to end.

Service componentEffort (days)
Dedicated hypercare lead, triage & coordination (ongoing)34
Extended defect resolution & solution stabilisation20
Ongoing user support, coaching & office hours12.5
Month-end claiming & billing cycle support (4 cycles)8
Integration monitoring & reconciliation (Boomi/D365)4.5
Adoption, issue & benefits reporting (weekly/monthly)4.5
Monthly hypercare checkpoints & exit criteria review4

Software licence investment

Maica licensing is based on the number of Salesforce users at the time of signing. For Opal, this is converted into an unrestricted site licence: a single organisation-wide fee under which access to Maica data no longer requires a specific licence to be assigned. This facilitates access to Maica data from external applications, integrations, and reporting functions without licence assignments or additional cost.

Maica maintains the solution's compliance with government regulatory and legislative change as part of the licence. Every change is analysed, built, and released by Maica at no cost to Opal.

Commercial notes

ItemDetail
Consulting rateAll work is charged at a daily professional rate of $1,700.00 per day (ex GST).
Capped effortListed costs are capped and will not be exceeded (including stated tolerances) unless agreed to by Opal Healthcare.
Scope statementAny scope not explicitly stated in the Statement of Work is considered out of scope and will be delivered using a time and materials commercial structure.
TimelineAny delays by the client to provide the required details within the specified timeline do not change the invoice schedule and may incur additional costs.
Third party costsBoomi licensing, AirDocs, Salesforce licences, and sandbox provisioning are excluded from the effort estimate and borne by Opal Healthcare unless stated otherwise.
No cost commitmentsThe MAC portal and GPMS integration is delivered at no cost as a Maica roadmap item, and all regulatory and legislative compliance changes are built and released at no cost under licence.

The complete set of implementation assumptions and exclusions is documented in the implementation proposal.
